Pick the right size

Most images are far bigger than they are ever displayed. A 4000 px photo shown in a 1200 px column wastes most of its bytes. Common targets: 1920 px for full-width website images, 1280 px for blog posts, 800 px for product grids and 400 px for thumbnails.

Aspect ratio is always preserved and images smaller than your limit are never enlarged.

Resize and convert in one step

Combine resizing with a new output format – for example 1600 px WebP for a blog – to get web-ready images in a single pass. The results are typically 80–95% smaller than the originals from a modern phone.

Common image sizes

Websites: 1920 px wide for full-width hero images, 1200–1600 px for content images and 800 px for product grids. Online marketplaces often recommend at least 1000–2000 px on the longest side so zoom works. Social media platforms display images at around 1080 px wide, so larger uploads are simply scaled down by them.

For email newsletters, 600–1200 px wide images keep messages light and load quickly on mobile connections.

Frequently asked questions

Will resizing make my images blurry?

Downscaling uses high-quality smoothing, so images stay sharp at their new size. Images are never upscaled.

Can I set both width and height?

Yes. Each image is scaled to fit inside both limits while keeping its proportions.

Can I resize to an exact size like 1080×1080?

Images are scaled to fit within the size you set without cropping, so a non-square photo stays non-square. This keeps every part of the picture.

Does resizing also reduce the file size?

Yes, dramatically. Halving the width removes about three quarters of the pixels, and each image is compressed at the same time.

Are transparent PNGs kept transparent after resizing?

Yes. When the output format supports transparency (PNG, WebP or AVIF), transparent areas stay transparent.
